A Love Affair With Paper

I have always loved old things. They hold a magic of their own. Greetings cards, book pages, ledgers, stamps. Each has their own magical quality, a story that they hold. Dreaming of who held the book, tucking a bookmark in the pages, thinking of who wrote the letter, sealed it closed and sent it off into the world. I have been a collector for many years, repurposing items in my art journals, paining, collaging, enjoying. I also love sharing these treasures, packaging them up to send out to other lovers of old things.

You can find these special packs in my Etsy Shop if you need some magic in your life.

So fancy!

Part of why I started on my Color Street journey was because I fell in love with the product…they have gorgeous nail polish options from neutral to super sparkly to awesome colors and designs that pop. But one of the big reasons I decided to become an independent stylist is because I love to look down at my hands when I am typing or on the phone and see my fancy nails! My family gets sick of me showing them off to them, but they are just so fancy and so pretty!

Reach out if you want to fall in love with your fingernails, too!

Friday!

I have found that at my advanced age, I really look forward to Fridays. There is something about having the weekend ahead of me that seems extra special. I will say that while this whole pandemic thing has definitely sucked, the silver lining has been time with family. We have played so many games, baked so many treats, watched a ton of movies, and just generally spent quality time together. There was little to no running kids to practices or games, which was kind of nice, truth be told.

One of our favorite games we’ve been playing is Dune. It does follow the story of the Dune books, but you do not have to have read them or really have any idea of the story to be able to play the game. It is fun, fast paced, and a game where you are always having to think ahead, change on the fly, and be prepared. I highly recommend it if you have kids 10 and up.

What are you doing this Friday? Any games to recommend?

Hello!!!

Goal today: Publish a blog post.

This is kind of scary, but hey, just jump in, right?

You might be asking, why? Why a blog post? Why you? Why now?

Well, I am starting this blog for a couple of reasons. First of all, I want somewhere to share my work and my creative endeavors. I want a place that holds it all, that I can share with others, that encourages me and motivates me to continue to create.

My second reason is that I want to connect. Even pre-COVID, I have felt lonely and distanced. Sure I have an awesome family, but it gets harder and harder to connect with friends as you get older (can I get an AMEN?)

I guess my final reason is that I want to contribute. I want to share my art and my story.

Thanks for being here and thanks for letting me be real…I hope you will join me in creating, sharing and repeating!
